Workshop Program

• Introduction

• Noise Terminology
A brief, non-mathematical review of the noise metrics used for occupational noise, including practical illustrations and recorded examples.

• The Behaviour of Sound
Practical examples will be used to illustrate the effects of transmission, reverberation, absorption and insulation.

• The New Regulations and the New HSE Emphasis
A review of the imminent changes to the Noise at Work Regulations and the change in emphasis from the HSE with respect to “Best Practice”.

• Noise Monitoring Equipment
Guidance on instrumentation specifications, the correct use of sound level meters, calibration and accuracy.

• Practical Workshop
All delegates will get the opportunity to calibrate noise monitoring equipment and take measurements of a variety of recorded occupational noise sources.

• Group Discussion
Review the practical results and main course elements. General chat with experienced engineers and Cirrus staff about practical issues.
